About Matt

Matt Dowell has served clients as a Farm Manager and Real Estate Agent with Farmers National Company since 2016. He oversees land for clients in seven North Central Kansas counties, managing all aspects of ownership including leasing, budgeting, accounting, crop insurance, grain marketing, crop planning and fertility management, irrigation development, conservation compliance, and contractor oversight. After meeting stringent requirements for education and experience, Matt earned the designation of Accredited Farm Manager by the American Association of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. The AFM designation is the highest professional status in farm management and illustrates Matt’s leadership among industry peers.

Matt enjoys developing long-term relationships with clients while helping increase the profitability of their farm, navigate complicated family situations, and reconnect with their agricultural heritage and the rural way of life when they visit their farm. Matt is also a non-operating landowner, having purchased 360 acres adjacent to the original family homestead in Republic County, KS. With his experience and his passion for agriculture, Matt is uniquely qualified to help maximize your land value, preserve your family legacy, and increase your peace of mind.

Background

Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kansas State University, majoring in Finance and a minor in Leadership Studies. While a student at Kansas State, Matt also participated in the prestigious Fulbright International Summer Institute in Borovets, Bulgaria. Also while in college, Matt served in the United States Army Reserve, achieving the rank of Staff Sargeant during his enlistment and earning the Combat Medical Badge and Army Commendation Medal while deployed to Iraq.

Before beginning his career with Farmers National Company, Matt spent 8 years in operations leadership and agronomy sales with two of the nation’s leading agriculture companies. Through these roles, he gained expertise in agronomy, precision ag, commodity marketing, logistics, negotiating, and leadership, all of which helped him better serve his landowner clients.
